Caught up on some sleeping

with a much-needed 4-hour nap. Also had a massage to counter the tension headache, which has been quite horrific this week, baked oatmeal scones again, did a bit of work on djeli’s new hat (I’ve passed the turn-up and am on to the hat proper now!) and received the first part of my Amazon order – Wii Fit Plus (which obviously I can’t use until the sprained ankle is sorted out) and 3 Beatles albums – Magical Mystery Tour, Revolver and A Hard Day’s Night – woo! Also had a bash at one of my new Wii games – Lego Indiana Jones – which looks like a heap of fun. A lovely, relaxing day – can’t remember the last time I had one of those!

Had a day of rest

After having sprained my ankle badly on Tuesday and struggling through the rest of the week, I took today off and slept in, then spent most of what was left watching movies and playing computer games (The Settlers, first on my iPod, then on the computer after the iPod ran out of power)

Played around with GrooveMaker

On the iPod Touch. What a cool little programme – loads of fun. Would be even funner if one could load up one’s own loops, but maybe that will come in a later version. At any rate, it made the train trip home fly by.

Learned how to taste wine

A friend arranged for a bunch of us to go on a Vinopolis wine-tasting tour for her birthday. V interesting and loads of fun. The star wine of the night I think was probably the Cretan wine – “Red on Black”. Lovely stuff. Djeli’s madeira sure gave it a run for its money though!

Played the whole of a new game

On the iPod Touch (of course – what else have I been talking about for the past month – the poor computer’s barely had a look-in). The creator was on The Gadget Show on Monday night so I downloaded Rolando in its free form and have just finished the whole thing – a little bit this morning and the rest on my train trip home. V cute, fun gameplay. I may well invest in the full version sometime – really enjoyed it. And nice to grab a little down-time too.

Played around with a sketching app

So this is a slightly inaccurate portrait of my travelling bear, Gerald. Looks like a great tool – perfect for those days where one has an unexpected 10 minutes but no sketchbook!

Thoughts on a website

Began to pull together some ideas (again) about how I want to tackle my new website. I’ve started this a couple of times but this feels meatier and more like it has a chance of making it to the coding phase.

Did a bit more on my new portfolio site

Got the CSS3 rounded corners happening! plus a few additions. I think I need to streamline the jQuery a bit and the whole design may yet change, but I’m quite pleased with progress, overall.

Multi-timbral joy!

A nice chap on the Garritan forums helped me out and told me about an update for Pro Tools which it seems Digidesign had hidden away in the depths of their site and not linked from the Check for Updates feature. So this has fixed the freezing problem I was having with GPO! And now everything’s running brilliantly (so far – expecting a CPU overload error any minute now). I got keyswitching working last night, which is genius, and have been messing about with percussion today. I worked out how to make a blank region so I could just write in notes, and discovered that there’s a whole channel for mod wheel control, so I can just draw in the mod-wheel data needed to control my drum rolls! Wheeee!

First experiments with jQuery

and they worked!!! Fantastic stuff – it certainly seems easy to get started with. Whether it’s easy to carry on with, though, is another matter… only time will tell. For now I have a working page with links hiding and showing content and even a tab that slides in on command.
