Got home from France in one piece…

… eventually. 4am alarm. 4.30am wake up call, then 3 hour bus trip to Grenoble, a flight to Gatwick, cab to friends’ place in Wandsworth, then on to home again. No wonder I’m tired!

All my inboxes are totally clear

And I mean totally. Not a single thing. Mind you, there’s a huge folder labelled “Deal with this!” and another one labelled “Filing”, but the inboxes are pure and white and bare. Mmmm.

Have cleared desk

and some of the floor so I can actually GET to the desk for the first time in goodness knows how long. David Allen is a genius. Everyone needs to read “Getting Things Done”. Go on! Go out and read it!

Bought new jeans

Very necessary, as the old ones have serious holes and oughtn’t to be worn out in public any more. These ones aren’t perfect. The 14s fitted just fine but *looked* too tight, so I went with the 16s which are actually a little too spacious, but hopefully that just means I have a chance to put them in the dryer when the inevitable laundry crisis occurs without worrying too much whether they’re going to shrink. And at only £19.50 it’s not the end of the world if I have to buy another pair soonish. Not like Levi’s at around £100 or something. Ugh.

Went to the Sisley in England and Wales exhibition

At the National Gallery. Interesting. I didn’t really know his work, but some nice stuff there. He seemed a bit uncertain as to what to do with the English light or lack thereof in the earlier ones, but the later Welsh seascapes are beautiful.

Spent time hunting for GTD apps online

The plan is to find one that will do what I need to organise things for the projects I’m going to be working on with my friend in Dundee. She probably won’t be using it, but that just means a trillion emails going back and forth, which is something that really confuses me a vast amount. Testing a few things, but so far Nozbe is looking like it will do what I want, where I want it (online) for the least amount of money.

Bought David Allen’s “Getting Things Done”

which I have been meaning to read for ages and ages – so many people have recommended it to me, and when my sister-in-common-law also recommended it, I figured it was time to actually go out and find it. However, it seems that the librarians at Ealing Central library have *not* read it… otherwise they’d have got in there and sorted the shelves for once so that the book that is in the catalogue would be where it says it is on the shelf, rather than in an unknown dimension, never to be seen again. So huzzah for Waterstone’s. And huzzah for the Waterstone’s vouchers I was given when I left PwC and have been terrified of losing. £11.99 for the book and £12 of vouchers – perfect!

Made a first draft mockup

of my sister-in-common-law’s website which I was supposed to do about a year and a half ago. Feels good to have it underway at last.
